Fresh windows 10 install to SSD and deleting OS off HDD

I recently got a Samsung 850 evo 250gb and I honestly have no Idea how to install it and how I should go about deleting windows 10 off my HDD and doing a fresh install to the SSD. I have no idea where to start. My goal is to just have Windows 10 and a few games/apps I use on the SSD while everything else points to HDD. If anyone has a good guide or could walk me through this, I would greatly appreciate your help!

Google search for Windows 10 download. Download their install tool. Get a USB drive that is at least 8GB and download the install to there. It will walk you through it. Then once that is done, unplug your HDD and plug in your SSD ONLY. Boot off the USB drive and install windows 10. It should pick up what version of windows you had before. if not make sure you select the right one. Then once windows is installed, power down, connect the HDD, turn on Go into BIOS, make sure SSD is primary boot device. Once in windows, right click on start menu, go to disk management, and delete all the partitions on the HDD. Then right click, make a new partition and give it a drive letter.

To move your Documents and what not over, go to your User folder, then right click on each one. EX: Right click Documents --> Properties --> Location --> Then i just change the drive letter. So normally it is C:\users\username i just change it to D:\user\username or what ever drive letter it is.

One thing which I dont understand. When people have 3 hdd's they are installing OS without unplugging other 2 hdds, how would someone install Windows on wrong partition when you can see partition/hdd size and how much space is free ? If you get new SSD its gona be 250 from 250 free.

Other then that it's safe to install windows on SSD while HDD's are plugged, like completely safe in terms of hardware issues ?

it isn't installing it on the wrong drive is it the more thank likely windows will install the BOOT to one of the other drives so if you remove that drive later BOOM can't boot windows unless you have the disk and fix the issue.

ALWAYS best to install windows with ONLY the OS drive installed! If you want to have Multiple partition on that drive that is fine but always install it with only the target drive for the OS.

But that can happen even when you install HDD correct ? Because I never did that in my life so I just wonder.

I'm late, I know... But do you keep your old data on your hdd? A part from Windows

Me personally, I keep ANYTHING that is important to me OFF my OS HDD unless it only has one HDD then i partition it in a way so that my data is off the OS partition. This way if windows takes a dump i can just reinstall to that drive/partition and not worry about wiping anything out. But for the most part I run a domain environment in my house with my PC's with Roaming Profiles so all my data is stored on my server actually and only a cashe of my most used files reside on my PC's except for my main desktop which I have an extra 1TB that i save games and use to temporarily store data for video conversions. But yea I strongly suggest to keep data off the OS drive/partition unless you have a good backup.

Haha no I didn't, but still thanks for your answer!

I mean that I can build my pc in two days but will be able to buy a ssd in a few weeks, how do I migrate my windows install to my ssd so that I have windows on the ssd but still have all the other files on my hdd

When you get the SSD, plug it into an extra SATA port.

download Macrium Reflect Free. Once installed you can clone the whole HDD to the SSD. Once it is cloned over, unplug the HDD and plus the SSD into the HDD SATA cable and boot.

If it boots fine you can plug in the HDD and then make sure it still boots off the SSD. You should then have the HDD as an extra drive now.

Once you are done installing on the new drive, make sure you boot off the new drive with the old one plugged in and then you can just right click and format it in windows. Just make sure everything if off of it.
