Built a new PC over the weekend and have been running into some problems. And I am in dire need of some help!
The problems:
Windows install goes smooth. Once it completes the first time setup and I am on the desktop it works for a few minutes. Then it BSOD. Its a quick BSOD so I am unable to view the error. I reboot, and it does not repeat the BSOD again (only happens once right after install) - This BSOD seems to happen no matter what I am doing shortly after the fresh install
I then install the motherboard and GPU drivers. All goes smooth.
I then go to Windows updates and try to update. (This is were the main issue occurs)
The Windows Update is able to "Check for Updates" and it finds 145 for me to install.
Next I select Download and install the updates and it begins the process of downloading and installing the updates.
-It freezes during the download, and forever loops at "x out of 145, x% complete"
-Sometimes it does actually download the updates, if so during the install it also freezes in the same manner.
-I have been able to download and install the updates once. I did the shutdown so it would configure the updates, and it froze when it got to 85 out of 145.
I understand this could be a hardware issue, but it could be any number of things so I thought I would start here. I have researched this and plan on doing a memtest to test my RAM, and using the SeaTools to test the SSD. I will also try using a different Windows 7. But I wanted to get my issue out there because I really can't find much info on it.
Thank you in advanced!!
EDIT: RAM was the issue, replaced it and I was able to update. Although I now have new problems.
New problem
So I replaced the RAM and it seemed like it worked. But now when I go to install other programs, the install sometimes never gets passed "initializing". I try to close the installer, but it doesn't close. I then force close the installer. If I then go try to install another program it gives me the error "Can't install because something else is installing". I then go to shut down my computer, and it gets to the "Shutting down" screen. Then never shuts down. I let it go for 10mins before I recieved a BSOD. The error was "power driver failure".
After this my computer fails to boot. I have to force shut down otherwise it stays at the windows screen. After the failed boot it makes me launch the repair that then has me reboot from a previous restore point.
