Fresh Windows 7 Install won't detect Ethernet cable?

I just bought a new SSD and did a clean install of windows on it. When I plugged the Ethernet cable in, it said there was no connection and I had the little red x over the network icon. This cable and PC connected to the Internet just fine before this. I also reset my modem and router. What could be the problem?

I would suspect drivers on the chipset/motherboard if that is where you connect the Ethernet.
Usually you can go to manufacture's website and download the Ethernet drivers for your particular
chipset

I can't install the driver because I can't connect to the internet.

if you can get the drivers on a usb stick that is an option to transfer to the other pc.. or find the cd that came with the motherboard , it will have the Ethernet drivers

Should I just put the CD in when its on Windows? Also, I am on a different PC.

Just FYi, You can always download drivers to Your iPad/Cellphone/Tablet, and connect it to PC as mass storage device, and copy it from there. And yes, driver will help You for sure.

Thanks guys. I installed all the stuff the Asus Disk recommended and now the internet is great!
