I am new to all of this so forgive me any problems with my post.
my build is here:
AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor
Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Asus Radeon R7 260X 2GB Video Card
EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

it powers on and can access the BIOS menu and run entirely in safe mode, but when i try to run normally, the monitor displays nothing but a black screen. i have tried two different monitors (one a TV) and both the VGA cable and HDMI cable.

One thing i noticed is that when i tried to use the driver disc that the video card came with, the catalyst install manager brings up an error that says "failed to load detection driver." I feel this may be part of the problem.
Other than that, this is my first time building a PC so i may have made some sort of error anywhere along the way.
Any help would be incredibly appreciated. Thank you.

Solution
turn off your pc, take out the video card and put it back in, make sure it sits all the way in the PCIe slot and you hear a click

thank you for responding. i tried this once, got the same error message, tried it again, and it appeared to work, but then the video cut out and the screen went black again.

well, turns out i am even more of an idiot than i thought, and had the video card in the other slot, instead of the express slot. i believe moving it has worked, and will not be making that mistake again. thank you so much for your help.
