[SOLVED] fried hard drive

My hard drive is dead but the data recovery people say they can get my information for around $1-2K. Is there any way to recover the data on my own?

So I have personally taken the PCB board off hard drive that is dead and using the exact same working hard drive swap the pcb board. It isn't easy, but I have gotten data off from a fried pcb board
