So I have an asus rog strix b250h gaming motherboard with an i7 7700k cpu. I bought an i7 9900k cpu because I thought they were compatible and was wrong. Now after putting the old cpu back in my Pc will turn on and light up but will have no display and I can’t turn it off with the power button. Did I fry my motherboard or what is the problem?

What about clearing CMOS?

Also: Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS.

Doublecheck your installation work.

Review the installation process - there may have been some error of omission or commission.

Ensure that all cards, cables, RAM, and jumpers are fully and firmly in place.

No beeps or diagnostic LEDs?

Are you able to get into BIOS? If so, check the configuration.

Pull the battery to clear CMOS settings and try again.

No beeps or diagnostic LEDs, and no I’m not able to get into BIOS either. All I did was switch out the CPUs around. I had assumed since they were both 1151 socket that they would be compatible.
