So my friend right now has a prebuilt he got from office max and it has a old fm2 mobo with an A10-7850k and no gpu. His PSU may not also be that good. I told him maybe the 1060 3gb might be good but now that he's told me more about the setup I don't think itll be useful cause of the massive bottleneck, etc. I don't really know what would be good for that. I told him he's gonna need to upgrade the cpu and mobo and PSU. I don't really know what to recommend him as far as a gpu. I thought the i3 6100 or the i5 6500 would be a good upgrade cpu wise. I wanna try to keep the price down so cheap but reliable is nice.

I always recommend people go for Ryzen 7 right now, or wait for Ryzen 5, since you will get much improved performance (Ryzen 5 is coming in a few months). But that all depends on how long your willing to wait and how much you can spend, with the lowest, but still very good, Ryzen 7 coming in at US$329. For a Gpu if you were looking around the 1060 price range, it may be the best option (Rx 480 vs 1060 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23EpAY46PxI). However, depending on where you live, buying a second hand 970 or 980/ti, may also be a good option (keeping in mind that the 980 ti has almost identicle performance to the 1070! If its a prebuilt the PSU is almost garanteed to be terrible, you'll want to grab something like an evga 500b or...

If you can't get Ryzen then it depends on what they will be doing on the PC that dictates the CPU. The case may not fit a standard motherboard, so getting an S340 would be in order if that turns out to be the case.
Hope this helps out! Cause it took 15 minutes to write!
