Its currenlty out of stock, but he can wait somewhat, as he doesn't have all the $ yet

If he can hold out then get the X1900XT. However even with this card he will not be able to play Oblivion at 1600 x 1200. The game is just too demanding. In my opinion, Oblivion is one of the first games released that will need the power that only the GeForce 8800GT/GTX card can provide. Sadly, they will be selling for $600+.

Get a 7600GT instead, save the extra $$, wait for a bit and put it together with some more $$ to get a new DX10 card. Otherwise, Oblivion is a no-go...it makes BF2 look like child's play.......even the 7600GT can handle BF2 no problem really.

Ok first of all, it's crossfire, xfire is the gamers instant messenger.

Second, here is a list of good cards for cheap price.

Cheap enough to get 2

One will max bf2 out, as my current 9600PRO with 4 pipes, 128bit interface and 256 on card runs it at medium with 800x600 res. (Halo maxed out on 1024 res with 60 FPS)

I think with new games it's better to get 2 good cards and SLI or crossfire them, rather then getting one really expensive card.

some of the cards you linked are pretty good but he said that he's going to be playing at 1600x1200, not the kind of res your going to want to play at even with dual x850's. i think that a single 1900xt or 1950xt will perform better than dual X series cards.

The only way you will achieve your goal (or getting closer to it), if this is only a gaming PC will be to save some $ on the proposed CPU and MOBO. Don’t get me wrong the E6600 is an awesome CPU but we all know what gives you high FPS and that is a descent graphics card.

My suggestion to you is buy a cheaper CPU and MOBO and get a better GPU.

If you want to CrossFire later, then you need the 975x Chipset MOBOs.

Well that's a heck of an order to fill.Oblivian at max settings. Please, not on that budget.Seriously, tell your friend to save about 400 dollars more and buy an 8800gtx.Only with this card will you be able to play Oblivian at max settings @1600x1200 just the way he wants it to play.Anyways, just my 2 cents worth.Goodluck.

WHY do you post your system specs in every single post you make? Why not just make a signature? Its not hard... seriously.

To OP, just get an EAX1950Pro for $165 That should keep him happy with Oblivion. If you tweak some settings in Oblivion (such as the grass) it makes it a little easier on your hardware.. I'll try to find a link.

.....

Isnt that just the same as putting it in the signature?

when you put it in your signature it automatically goes in all mesages
