Friends getting this Combo in an hour, worth?

Hey everyone, my friend is planning on buying this combo in an hour

4590 + msi mobo

What does everyone think about it? is it worth the upgrade from a fx6300. He doesnt want to overclock.

Also is it worth getting this or the 4690?

$222 for the combo sounds pretty good to me.

As for the i5-4690 being worth it, it depends on whether your friend minds paying 10-15% more cash for 3-5% more performance. I wouldn't bother.

Since he does not want to overclock his FX6300, i'd say yes, it is worth it. i5 4590 will be very solid for gaming.
4690? If the price difference is less than ~10-20$ , i'd pick it.

how is the motherboard, is it any good? The main reason he is replacing it is because his current ASUS is breaking on him. He's had it for around two years and like one of the ram slots isn't registering.

There is also this deal. Which one is better 4590 or 4190 for THAT PRICE???

Practically all critical circuits are integrated in the CPU or chipset these days. Motherboards do little more than provide power delivery and structural support for the components. Mechanical failure is a possibility with any manufacturer and electrical failure in the chips are beyond the motherboard manufacturers' control since they can only use the AMD or Intel chipsets.

For the most part, quality between major manufacturers is roughly equivalent.

Damn, that is a good deal, the i5 is better than the i3, but the i3 is no slouch either. Both are a good value, your friend has to decide if he needs the i5 or not.
