Question Friend's Rear audio jack not working

We were talking on Discord and all of a sudden his audio cut. When he plugs into the back the audio doesn't work, but the mic works. When he plugs into front Audio Works, but I don't think the mic would work if I understood correctly. I think it's a software issue seeing as his headset comes up and picks up sound when he plays sound on his pc, but nothing comes out. It's not his headset either, he tried with his speakers too. I'm thinking it might be something in Windows, he hasn't bought and activated it so he's probably on an older or bad version and it might've bugged. Any ideas? The goal is to fix the rear jack's.

Update.
Seems like their headset and mic are switching? They're plugged into the correct ports, but when he's in call and he's playing music, the music comes through his mic and I can hear myself.
