My friends know I build and maintain my computers and I have even repaired a few of theirs. They sometimes end up giving some of their old systems that they have replaced. Most of the time these are old off-the-shelf pre-builts, and most of of the time they do not work. They think I might be able to use some of the parts, and they do not understand that much of what's inside is outdated and unusable. One that ended up in my possession had a ton of viruses and trojans that I was asked to fix. Told him he would need to pay for a new OS as he tossed out the old recovery disc's. Since I couldn't fix it for free, he then said I can have it. Thanks!
I try not to be rude and take them, even though I just end up turning them out for recycling or trash. I just wondered if anybody else runs into this?
