Friends z97-a Mobo freezes at Bios, BUT boots to windows HELP

Hi guys. So my friend asked me for some help but I figured this is a better spot to direct the question. As the title states, my friend purchased a new mobo and cpu(asus z97-a & the i5 4690k). From what I understand from what he told me, he can boot to windows but when he attempts to access BIOS it freezes. Afterwards it prompts him to press F1 to recover, where later everything returns back to a normal boot but the bios remains inaccessible. My question to you all is, what are some ways that he can attempt to resolve this? He already tried removing the CMOS, unplugging everything, and made sure everything is tightly sound onto the board. If he is to flash or something like that, we aren't to experienced with it, some some leyman's explanation would be in order 😉

More specifically, the problem initially started with the BIOS freezing upon having been loaded (This began after installing included drivers with the z97-A installation disc). Following a few boots of this, I ran the dual intelligent processors 5 program to check on some OC stuff and to see if it was a minor glitch or whatever the case may be. Following this, the computer proceeded through its POST (despite my desperate smashing of the Del and F2 keys). I then pulled the CMOS battery, which prompted me to hit F1 to restore, followed by another good old fashion boot to windows.

I'd love to flash the BIOS or update it from 2501. However, I can't access EZ Flash 2 from the bios, as i need to be able to access the bios to do this. I have version 2801 sitting on a USB stick formatted to FAT32. I am simply unsure as to how to put this on without requiring the BIOS, OR, another way to simply access the bios so that it is usable in the future. I will contact ASUS support tomorrow if nobody is sure.

Crisis averted.

Bios updated from 2501 to 2801 via DOS using USB and the mobo CD. If anybody else is having this issue, that is how you do it. Refer to the user guide and don't try to be a hero like i did. 2 days spent tinkering.

Just seems to be somewhat buggy out of the box software. something must have corrupted along the way.
