Frist time building a computer please give advice

Hi I recently just started to learn about computer parts. I had only studied about 3 days or so about the parts. I hope I have learned enough.
My goal is to build a computer that can last long and cost efficient.
I hope you guys will be able to give me tips on which parts I can replace to save more money.
Currently these parts that I have decided on are a bit over the price than I hope to pay. but If it is cost efficient I wouldnt mind paying.

I chose the case because I want to save space and be able to move it around with convenience. Let me know if these parts will fit the case.

What is your budget and primary use? For games and most uses - you will not benefit from X79. It's better to stick with Z77. The Thermaltake Frio is not a good choice, and neither is the Corsair Force SSD. The GTX 680 and 670 perform almost exactly the same and the 680 is $100 cheaper.

I went to PCpartpicker.com and input your build as best I could. It all seems to work together but I see several problems. First off, you dont need to get a Sandy Bridge-E system. The CPU and mobo combo is more expensive than really necessary and you can't overclock that i7 3820 very well because it is multiplier locked. You should go with i5 3570K instead. It is great for gaming and a good all around performer as well. I tweaked your build to reflect that. Also, you should add a hard drive with a 120GB SSD or just go with a 250-256GB SSD. Personally I don't like the Thermaltake CPU coolers. I'd go with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO instead. The video card is a good choice although the Radeon HD 7970 GHz edition is better. The following build will perform just as well and costs less.

I hope to spend $1000, but if a $1500 is gonna get me a longer lasting computer I would go with $1500.
It will be used for gaming mostly.

I want this computer to last long.
Does the z77 have LGA 2011 and PCIe 3.0?
I'm thinking that in a few years that everything will be using LGA 2011 and PCIe 3.0, so I thought it'd be good to get it just in case.

I really have no idea about coolers. Are there better coolers that are compatible with LGA 2011 other than the Thermaltake Frio?

What is your recommended hard drive beside the corsair force ssd?

Also want to clarify that did you mean that the gtx 670 would be $100 cheaper and more cost effective?

Z77 is an LGA 1155 chipset- you have to get an LGA 1155 CPU, like the i5 3570k or the i7 3770k. Both platforms support PCI Express 3.0 (though you don't really need it right now) but the LGA 2011 platform has quad channel memory (not too much of an advantage) and more PCI Express lanes.

For what you want (gaming and upgradablity) your best bet would be to get the i5 with a Z77 motherboard, and a GTX 670. If you want to you could probably do SLI later on.

As far as coolers go, the Hyper 212 Evo is a great value, and will keep your CPU plenty cool. I have one on an 1100T (125 watt TDP) and it never hits 50 degrees.

For your boot drive, I'm partial to the samsung 830 series, though anything with a 2nd gen sandforce controller will do.

Z77 does not work on LGA2011 CPUS but it does Support PCIe 3.0 with an Ivy Bridge CPU. That's why I am recommending the i5 3570K. You don't really need an LGA 2011 CPU any way. The i5 3570K is the best value for the money for gaming. It's pointless to pay over $300 for a CPU that won't outperform the i5 3570K, and can't overclock well anyway. For that matter, any i7 CPU is better put to use for Video editing and conversion. For primarily gaming use they are a waste of money because games don't use Hyperthreading.

I haven't actually built a computer with that case (cooler master HAF XB rc-902xb-kkn1) but from the specs and the way it looks it shoud all fit so feel free to use it. Case choice is rather a personal decision anyway. I would think that the foot print of that case (HAF XB=13" x 17.4" x 16.7" vs. Antec 302=20.2" x 9" x 18.5") would be much bigger, though, although the height is somewhat less. Actually, a mid tower case ends up using a little less space over all.

As far as the lifetime of LGA 1155, I believe that Intel plans to support it for at least one more generation of CPU, however, even if they don't, the i5 3570K is a very good CPU and should be viable for at least 2-3 years anyway. LGA 2011 was not meant to supplant LGA 1155 but rather to coexist with it. LGA-2011 supports the Extreme series(Also, very expensive) of Sandy Bridge and future Ivy bridge CPU's whereas LGA 1155 supports the mainstream (less expensive) lines of CPU's.
