News From Big Navi to Big Wheels? AMD Sells Bikes Now

That mountain bike is garbage.
  • Rim brakes. Nobody uses rim brakes anymore
  • 21 speed drive train. That is a bargain basement drivetrain. Most good bikes use a 1x11 or 1x12 setup with only one front ring.
  • The frame just looks like ancient garbage
  • QR anything is a sign of a low end bike.
  • The suspension will undoubtedly be garbage give the quality of the rest of the bike.
This is pretty much what you get if you go to a Chinese manufacturer and tell them to give you the cheapest full suspension bike they have. It will absolutely not survive being ridden off road for long.

I was expecting some information technology on it , but was disappointed.

Come on guys , this is like a T-Shirt wih AMD on it nothing more.

Cheap made in china bikes with AMD logo on it ..

Move on ..

This is a step in the wrong direction. The bicycle market is a very specialized one. And I am sure that many of the AMD users are bikers too. You just don’t sell cheap Chinese steel bikes with your name on it. The same way you don’t sell Gildan t-shirts with your company’s name on it. Promotional products should be so good that potential new customers and fans alike associate their good experience using them with the trademark they announce.

Looks like the same "frame", from a $150 Walmart special.

Given that many bikes out of stock at so many local shops due to the pandemic, it's actually a not such a dumb play by the AMD marketing team - if they ship in a decent amount of time. It's opportunistic.

Also, the bike isn't exactly the same, the 'AMD MTB' has 26 in tires. Soooo....it's worse.

Frame is the same.
I superimposed one on top of the other. Exact same curves and dimensions.

Rims/tires are....meh, either way.

This is like selling a 850Watt PSU for $25, and putting your brand name on it.
Whatever brand, or however fast it ships...still trash.

If they can make $150 from each bike sold then it's a pretty good deal for them as long as they are "drop shipping" them. Producing each bike only after it was ordered.
If they produced a run of them it would kinda justify the price more since it's a pretty big risk unless china is hot for AMD logoed bikes right now.

I was just referring to....that "bike" is a piece of crap.
A BSO (bicycle shaped object)
Something you should not sully your name with.

They didn't design or build these. Some bonehead in marketing contracted a low end factory in China for a different paint job and orange tires. And someone above approved it.
Neither knows anything about actual 'bicycles'. Or, it seems, actual marketing.

Next up...AMD branded lawn chairs.

If you want to promote the brand in other realms...don't delve into the dregs of a market you know nothing about.
