[SOLVED] From HDMI to DP

So i need some help. I have an ASUS ROG PG278QE, that has DP 1.2 and an HDMI 1.4 port. I understood that HDMI 1.4 can do maximum 2560x1440 @ 73 hertz. The problem is that when PS5 will appear i will want to play 2k with more hertz than that (around 100 i think, because that ps5 can do 1080 120 and 4k 60) but the port cant do 2560 100 hertz. So if i buy an cable DP to HDMI, i will get that res and hertz?

no, the output is still an hdmi output and will only do what it is designed to do. an adapter does not change the port itself only the way it looks.

ok but if i will buy an adapter and i will plug that hdmi with an adapter in dp port, i will get 1440 p 144 hertz?

no, the cable does not have the bandwidth for all that data. that's wy dp is taking the place of hdmi on high end pc monitors. hdmi just can't keep up anymore.

if you want full dp capabilities, you'll need full dp on each end of the connection.
