From laptop to desktop!

At the moment Im rocking an Alienware m14x gaming laptop (2013 version). It has lost its power and im about to build one by my self. I have 350 Uk money to use, but here is the question should I buy a new processor when i have Intel Core i7-374QM in my alienware (laptop) I read that it would be hard to take it off, but should I go for completely new one or take off the recent ones?
