From R9 390 to GTX 1080... should I?

So, I build my pc around 1 and a half years ago. It was quite good back then but not THAT good anymore.
I have been thinking about upgrading my graphics card but I am not sure is it really necessary.

I mainly play PLAYERUNKNOWN'S Battlegrounds nowadays and since it's still in Early Access, I won't probably see much of a difference if I upgrade from the R9 390 to the GTX 1080.

Here's my build:
-Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
-Intel I5 6600k
- 16GB RAM - Kingston Hyperx
-AMD R9 390

And my monitor is a BenQ XL2411 - 144HZ

Would it be better to upgrade my monitor to a Ultrawide one instead of upgrading my GPU?
Or should I upgrade anything at all?

Thanks for the answers!
Even PUBG has been running fine. I usually get 70 fps and the settings are on medium. But I don't think it's a hardware problem. Poor optimization I would say. A friend has a GTX 1070 and I7 and even he gets around 70 or 80 fps.

The build I have right now is "ok" I think. I guess it's not worth upgrading anything yet.
