Question from VGA to Displayport

I have a computer with VGA and DP ports. So far I was using only the first one, but I was told about benefits from display port. I bought a displayport cable.
Upon connecting the cable to the display and testing to see the difference between VGA and Displayport I saw that the new cable makes the screen colors a little less intense,..little more "white". Its worth mentioning that display settings (contrast/brightness etc.) for both connections were the same.
Is this normal?

No, its Intel HD Graphics.

Is this normal?

Sort of. VGA sends analogue signal to monitor while DP sends digital. Therefore it is quite expected to have it look different on same monitor. The exact details how it will differ depend on the monitor model.

Go to the Intel graphics command center and make sure the quantization range is set to Full.

I guess I will just assume its the analogue/digital difference. The colors are not washed out, just.. easier for the eye. Subdued?
