Question Front Header LED Output

I don't know what it is about newer PC cases omitting the Hard Disk LED, but it bugs the heck out of me. I just have to have one, so I set about wiring in an LED myself that I can put in the case window, so I can glance over and see that LED.

Problem is the front header doesn't seem to put out enough current to light the LED sufficiently to see it well through the tinted glass. My goal was to create something really bright, almost to the point it illuminates a good portion of the inside of the case-- I think it would go well with my LED setup.

I have some 10mm RED "ultra bright" LEDs that spec a 1.8-2.2 forward voltage and 20mA current. LED works okay but nowhere near bright enough. I've used these LEDs in other applications and they are ridiculously bright, so I don't think it's getting enough current from the motherboard header.

Any solutions?
