This seems like it should be obvious, plz forgive my ignorance. I just built a new computer, and I wanted to add a fan controller in an empty drive bay slot. The fan controller that I like has a headphone, and mic jack. My question is, I've already used the one audio connection on my mobo for the original front panel audio ports, where would i plug this second set into? Is there a way to split the one audio header from the mobo into two? tia

There isnt a splitter for an hd audio motherboard socket to a 2x hd audio output. That would change the impedance possibly resulting in damage to the signal amplifier if you were to utilize both ports at once. I recommend you only use one at a time. Either the front panel or the fan controller. If you want two audio outputs i recommend buying an after market 2 way 3.5mm amplifier.

Hmm... Not as simple as I thought. I do want two audio outputs, so that two people with headphones can listen to the same thing, but I would like it to be all within the case, rather than simply using a 3.5mm splitter like I am now. Plus If I bought that fan controller with the inputs, I couldn't just leave them unhooked, that would be tacky.

BTW coovargo, what exactly are those splitters for that show up in that google search above if not for this purpose? What hardware do you think would be damaged? Thanks for your input.

I'm thinking of putting an audio/mic jack inside the case, then splitting them and running to to the panel, it would require a bit of hacking but this is all I can think of to get the job done...
