I have got a headset online today, it has a microphone and a headphone 3.5 mm jack and when I plug it into my front panel connectors it doesn't work yet it's detected by Realtek HD Audio. I got the latest audio drivers from my motherboard, and the reason why I am using front panel and not my motherboard's audio connectors is since they are broken.

My motherboard is a MSI-760GMA (FX)
My hardware is
AMD FX 4300
MSI-760GMA (FX)
12 GB RAM
EVGA 500WATT PSU
Thermaltake case
Radeon R9 270

Solution
1. Make sure the wires from the front panel audio out is plugged into the motherboard correctly.
2. Look in "Device Manager > Sound > Playback" and make sure Headphones are not disabled or muted.
