I have a MSI ZH77A-G43 motherboard with a NZXT 210 case. My problem is that the front panel audio ports don't work. They appear to be plugged in properly and Windows does recognize that the port exist (under "playback devices" and "recording devices" but it never recognizes it when the earphones or mike are plugged in. The back panel ports work fine.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thank-you for your help in advance.

I did that and now Windows says the device is plugged in and sound is coming out, but no sound is actually coming out of my earphones.
Any ideas?

Both of the volume controls are on full. Nothing seems to be muted.
Any other ideas?

I finally found this. I went into the realtek folder in program files and opened the largest size file and it opened the audio manager. once there youll see a small folder icon in the top left corner just underneath "device advanced settings" click that and it gives the disable front panel detection option. everything works fine now filename was RAVcpl64 theres also an earlier version labeled RtkNGUI64

This worked for me as well!!! Genius! Thank you!

thank you sir!

I had the same issue. My problem resolved by doing this step:

Find Realtek HD Audio Manager at system tray. Right click at the icon, click sound manager.
You able to see Connector Setting button at right bottom. Click and choose AC97 Front panel.

I'm using ASUS motherboard.
