Hi, my front panel audio has been working for the last 2+ years up until today when I tried out a faulty GTX 970 for my friend on his PC. It had stopped working and to check if it was actually the GPU that had stopped working, I tried it on my pc and, no display whatsoever. After giving him the card back and putting my card back, I turned on my pc and when I put my headphones on, the audio sounded really tinny and the left driver was very quiet. Because of this, I reinstalled the drivers and now i get no audio whatsoever. All I hear is a very loud static noise that sounds like im sat in a hurricane. I am starting to think that his GPU has damaged my motherboard somehow?
Any help would be great.

Good idea, but I have checked the front panel audio connection multiple times and it is fine

I know it seems simple, but whenever I am presented with an issue that seems inexplicable I go back to basics, including doing a refresh of Windows and a clear of the CMOS.

I would uninstall your audio drivers, clear cmos, reboot. If you re-install the drivers and it is still not working we can go to the next step.

I have done all that you have mentioned above and nothing has changed ;(
