I've tried researching this a bit and can't find any posts with the same problem as I'm having. I ordered and put together an entire system last week, it was my first full build but I feel I hooked everything up correctly. My problem is when I plug headphones into the front headphone jack on the tower the left and only the left speaker in the headphones will start getting really hot. When I first noticed this I plugged the first set in and put them on then noticed the sound wasn't working in the left speaker, a few seconds later it started getting really hot so I took the foam off of the left side and noticed the thin plastic piece over the speaker was melting. I figured maybe since the headphones were several years old they were just shorting out or something. The next day I plugged a pair of ipod headphones into the back of the mobo and they worked fine, tried the front and got the same result as before. Here is a list of parts that I have installed.

-Gigabyte z68 mobo
-Intel i5 2500 cpu
-MSI ATI GPU
-Cooler Master Haf 932 case

If any other info is needed I can provide it, however I'm assuming the problem is either in the case or mobo.

I just got a new soundcard today, and after having my earphones in for about 5 minutes (working fine) i noticed the left one was getting hot. I took them out cause i paid $50 for them and i don't want them to melt. Could be related although mine were still producing sound.
