Front Panel Port no surround sound

When I first assembled my computer the front panel of the case was perfectly fine and I would connect my headphones to the port and it would work. However about a year ago, it broke( pretty sure I yanked the cable out too fast or something due to video game rage) and if I attempt to put the entire jack in the port, only the left side would work, and if I pull out the jack around half way, both sides would work but, there would be no surround sound and I can't hear where enemies are coming from.

Your cabinet is cheap???
Because it happens in cheap cabinets only. And latest motherboards have HD audio port and old cabinet supports ac97.
So change your cabinet with some expensive one.

Attached to the case, is a small circuit board where the audio jacks are mounted, u maybe able to replace that whole board, trick is find it. Knowing the exact part# helps. Part# maybe etched on there somewhere.
