front pannel usb help

ok, so a couple of weeks ago i posted a thread about building a computer for about 500$ on this website. all the parts came today and everything was going great until i had to wire in the front panel usb's. here's the problem, the makers of the case had decided to put the 2 cables into one massive plug that the motherboard doesn't have. do i need an adapter or something? please help!

That is the USB 3.0 connection, you can get an adapter such as this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812201039 relatively inexpensively which will allow you to use those ports as USB 2.0

so will both usb's be able to work optimally from just the one 9 pin connector?

Yes, that is a common configuration for USB - each header is often split into two ports
