Ok, so a little back story, I recently downloaded a new game onto steam, however, it would not open, coming back with the error message: "This application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click Ok to close the program".

Now I tried every one of the methods to fix this issue, including chkdsk, refreshing the DLL files in both System32 and SysWOW64, reinstalling Microsoft C++ as well as reinstalling DirectX. However, now, most likely due to changing the DLL files, I cannot open a number of games. When opening MGS Revengeance through Dependencywalker, I get the following:

I understand some of the errors are due to dependancywalker being unable to find the files/paths. Is my only option to reinstall windows? There must be a fix, any help is appreciated.

You shouldn't need to install Visual C++ to play a game. Visual C++ is for coding things, like, video-game hacks.

My question is, by what means did you replace the DLL files in question? Was it the result of reinstalling, say, DirectX or is it the result of deliberately and manually doing such yourself?

Ah ok, I'm now running Windows 10.

I manually replaced the DLL files in SysWOW64, the following: mfc100.dll, mfc100u.dll, msvcp100.dll, msvcr100.dll, msvcr100_clr0400.dll. I also replaced xinput1_1.dll xinput1_2.dll xinput1_3.dll xinput1_4.dll xinput9_1_0.dll. This was done in Safe mode. I literally looked up fixes for the issue I was having and tried each one, hence why I reinstalled C++
