I have a Netgear N300 Modem/Router and I cannot log into the Internet in spite of carefully entering the network key (password) at least 25 times. Is it possible that the password in the hardware does not match the password printed in the back of the modem?
There is a default access hole in the back of the modem but since I don't really know what I'm doing, I'm afraid to ah heck around with it!

Go ahead and use that reset button, no problem there. If the password doesn't work away, reread and follow the reset instructions exactly, and input the password exactly. May sure you not missing something, like the wrong encryption type or simply a loose connection.
