FS2000 Pro CFS2 after 2000 Pro SP4

After installing SP4 on my 2000 Pro machine, FS2000 and
CFS2 will no longer start. It gives me an Program Error
that cfs2.icd.exe and fs2000.icd.exe (respectively) has
generated errors and will be closed by Windows. I installed
the last DirectX from Microsoft. Other suggestions on the
KB speak of a clean boot and give instructions for XP, does
anyone know how to do this in 2000? Both are legitimate
products from Mirosoft. I've also tried
uninstalling/re-installing the applications.
