Hey guys tryin to overclock my fx6350 by using the fsb to 220 as well as multiplier ,something I haven't done before only by using multiplier alone. I tried it and no boot or froze on windows load screen...mobo is a ga-970-ud3 using 8gb vengeance o/c to 1866mhz .. should I be changing anything else?
Thanks in advance
Billy

No problem -- you just have to recognize that raising the system clock not only tied to CPU frequency, it is also tied to your IMC/NB, HT Link, Turbo & RAMs, so you have to dial them back. Best place to start --->> your RAMs.

RAMs speed is tied to the clock via multipliers (too). DDR3 1600MHz is 8(.00)x200MHz. DDR3 1866MHz is 9(.33)x200MHz & DDR3 1333MHz is 6(.67)x 200MHz, SO you have the drop the multiplier (sometimes called the 'divider') down one notch to account for the increase in the system clock. Right?

This system creates 'sweet spots' in the clock:
DDR3 1333MHz: 250MHz x 5(.33) = 1333MHz
DDR3 1600MHz: 240MHz x 6(.67) = 1600MHz
DDR3 1866MHz: 233MHz x 8(.00) = 1866MHz

The closer you hit the sweet spots in the clock, the closer you will return your RAMs to spec speed (and above).

Set the IMC/NB multiplier so your speed is 2200MHz+. The HT Link at 2000MHz or so is fine. This leaves the Turbo.

CPU multiplier (stock) 100% load is 19.5 x 200MHz, with a 21 x 200MHz Turbo. You can OC with the Turbo ON, but it is really tricky (with a great pay-back, though), so most folks disable it. Without Turbo, 4GHz looks like this:

250MHz x 16
240MHz x 16.5
233MHz x 17
