Dear folks,

My first post here. My i3-530 was ok when OC to run basic FSX, but it is showing off it's weakness when ran with add ons. So I decided to build a new PC with emphasis on FSX, and possibly more games in the near future. Following are the parts I've put together for a good FSX rig, per my limited research:

CPU: Intel i7-4820K
MOBO: Asus P9X79 Deluxe
RAM: GSkill Ripjaws Z 2400 MHz 32 g
Video: Evga GTX 760 2 GB
PSU: Seasonic 660W - I'm thinking about going with 750-850 W if I'm going to add another GPU
SSD: Kingston Hyper X (x2) one for OS and one for FSX
Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H105
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Please let me know where I stand in terms of power. I'm planning on overclocking there I chose the Asus board. What I've seen is that Asus board can auto OC. I'm not too crazy at the moment to tinker with voltages.

So do I get the blessing for my rig? :)

Thanks a bunch,

Omar

Im in the same boat as you so i cant really say but....32GB IS OVERKILL. FSX cannot use even remotely close to that. I chose the evga 760 as well. How big are the SSD's? I do know that fsx is a cpu intensive game. So you cant go wrong with the i7. Even with the patch your still only using 3/4 of that beast with processor 3 and 4 being used for auto rendering. So your only using almost two whole processors for the game. Again even im not sure as to entire build. Instead i would save alittle and get the i5-4670k. But if you got it spend it!hoped any of this helped.

My budget a month ago was roughly $2100 including shipping and taxes. It was a combo of Amazon and Newegg.

FSX is an old flight sim...never optimized (thanks microsoft) instead they did that bulls***t of a game FLIGHT which is an insult to aviation! For this reason it is really system demanding despite the graphic is what it is...

Your rig looks ok for FSX... I used it a lot (as private pilot myself) to keep me refreshed when I can't fly :)
