Thats the camera I have. It has a port for a microdrive (compact flash)
memory card, what I want to know is can I use a normal Compact Flash Card in
this slot? as the manual says that it is for microdrives, or do I have to
buy the expensive XD picture cards?

I use ordinary CF in mine and it works fine. However, they do say that some
CF cards may not work. They don't go on to say which ones and why not. As
the slot is a type two I can only imagine that the earlier type one cards
may not work.

Excellent, thats all i need to know as i will go and get a 256meg (x44
speed) CFII card for 23 pounds from EBuyer instead of paying 55 pounds for a
256 meg xd card.

Anyone care to explain why XD cards are so expensive?

Size.

The only logical reason I can see would be in the formatting - FAT16 vs
FAT32 - if the camera uses FAT16 then you're limited to 2 gigabytes, but not
with FAT32.
