Hi all

I have a Fujitsu desktop with windows7. The problem started most probably after an abnormal shutdown. On restart, it is now not booting.

The harddisk is getting detected by the BIOS only when I reconnect the power supply connector and the connectors in HDD. Even after that, when I set the hard disk as boot priority option #1 , it is not able to boot using Hard disk and probably going for the other option showing "DHCP....." followed by "PXE-E53 No boot filename found" .

And then again the BIOS is not showing the HDD.

I have recovery DVDs. Please help me to get the system restarted, if possible with preloaded sofwares in C Drive.

Solution
As the drive is recognized by BIOS, then you may be able to access it with some data recovery tool for DOS mode.(as your system can't boot) There are a lot of threads on DOS data recovery in the community.

Apart from that, did you check Disk Management when the drive is attach to another system. It could have been over there, having damaged partitions and/or file system.

Hi there srvsxc,

My suggestion would be to start with just attaching the drive with different cables to another SATA port.
In case the issue persists, then there is a chance that the HDD got damaged. You can attach it as a secondary drive to a working system and try to recover your data. In case the drive disappears again, then you will not be able to access it with software tools and you will need to look for some professional help in case the data stored on the is really important.

If this sorts the recognition issue out, then I believe you can try to run startup repair.

Let me know how this goes,

Hi

Thanks for your reply. So now I am 98% sure that the hard disk is damaged. I could not access it in other computers. But not sure why after a reconnections of the cables BIOS detect that but dont boot!

The start up repair says it cant repair automatically.
