I am looking for a few recommendations on a full featured enthusiast / light enterprise grade router that has support for some advanced features like VLANs, tunneling, and maybe (not REALLY necessary) load balancing.

I like to play online games but I also host several web and database servers.

Any suggestions?

You best bet is to load dd-wrt on a consumer router. This has many of the feature of commercial routers..it just tends to take more effort to learn since like most open source stuff the documentation is not always clearly written. If you want to play with commercial routers your best bet are the router simulators like GNS3 to start with and then when you get some basic knowledge you can buy some used cisco routers if you want real hardware.
