I might also have to budget for under 700 pounds too. Would the original build I posted be ok for that? I would have to include everything as its a first build (have virtually no pre existing peripherals etc).

But so far this looks great! Im practically drooling...

I'd drop the Asus you picked then and get the MSI I showed, it'll perform the same, the MSI will give you more room to work with (ATX vs mATX) plus you'll save some money.
Yeah, 4GB works fine, 8GB was just something if you wanted it.

I'd pay 7 more quid to get the F3 1TB though, 7 more quid for 500GB more and a faster drive, solid buy if ya ask me. As for GPU's concern I'd get the 560 just because it'll last you longer and get a bigger resolution for the future as well. If you want to SLI 560's just be sure to get a 600w at least.

Oh while Im at it, what do you reckon this baby will do? My rig, not the stone mad one above!
I mean, what games & settings will I be able to achieve? ( an example or two would do, just so I know what level of excited to be for the next few weeks)

I beat and loved Oblivion and Fallout 3 on xbox so I want to get Skyrim (oooobviously) and would love to try the Call of Duty series and maybe Crysis? Can I expect big things?

They're all new to me so, this will be a good year!

The build Shinobi posted should be able to run pretty much anything with good settings

@ 1920x1080, I would expect the 560 Ti OC'd to run Skyrim fine at high settings. Though requirements haven't been released it is hard to say. The COD series is easy stuff for a standard comp. A $60 card (4830) could run MW2 and Black Ops just fine, COD doesn't require much power since it is a strong port meaning they mostly build CODs for the console never using the full potential of PCs.

Crysis has gotten easier to run, though the original still a hard one even on modern comps, the second, Crysis 2, is much easier to run and should run smoothly as my 5850 handles Crysis 2 just fine.

Expect lower settings on games started on the PC, IE BF3 or any game that will go from PC to Console instead.

Booo-uurns, unfortunately I cant budget in for the 560, Have to stay around the 700 quid mark now.
Will the 5770 be enough to get me through the current game selection? I have a HUGE backlog of games to get through. [:aford10:7]

My current selection is the same as my original one above only I've replaced the 500gb drive with the suggested 1T, the P8P67 mobo with the suggested MSI P67A and I dont know about the GPU... if I stay with the 5770 I will be at 720 quid but I can manage that.

I would suggest the 5830 over the 5770 in a heartbeat. If you can stretch your budget a few pounds, grab a 5850 XTREME. It should only be a bit more, but gives a big increase in performance.

Well The 5830 is good, if you can spare on the peripherals and get the 560 Ti I'd do that instead. Way more graphical power that will last. But if not, the 5770 is good enough for your 19" not for anything larger though. Not that it is terrible, just not suited for 1680x1050+ monitors.

Ok, so Im constantly keeping an eye on gpus as I wait for the big day to finally order this rig. I'm getting more and more into 3d modelling and animation and Im starting to think I should expand my budget a bit and aim a bit higher with this whole set up. I am here at the moment:

8. And I STILL dont know what GPU...

This whole setup (inc. keyb mouse and case) will bring me up to 650 quid

The GTX 560 ti I was considering (Zotac GTX 560Ti 1GB DDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DP out PCI-E Graphics Card With Assassin's Creed BrotherHood Game Coupon) would be 180 pounds and its a little steep. Is it necessary for what I want to do? (3d animation/modeling, digital art, graphic design, gaming) and at the native resolution of this monitor?

Do all these parts fit well? (power consumption, compatibility etc.?)

Sorry for all the questions, Im really enjoying researching this!

That Be Quiet PSU is going to power that system very well.
IT's up to you for the card. Either card won't help with what you want to do except gaming. The 560 Ti would be your best bet though with CUDA.
