Does your laptop has an "Fn" key . It should be a the bottom , near the windows logo key. Try pressing Fn+[Required function key]. It should work!

you may need to go to your laptops support site and download the keyboard driver for it. and reinstall. if that doesnt work. then it means somehwere in your laptops hardware got busted. dell usually have a really good support system. so go to the closest dell shop to get your hardware checkedup on and check if you still have your warranty card/slip with you.
