Just seen these insane benchmarks from an overclocked 2ghz opteron @ 2.2ghz with a 9700pro. This indicated about the performance of a 2.2ghz A64. If a 1.8ghz reaches about 2.1-2.2 then I dont think I will be able to resist.....18500 on a 9700pro compared to 17600 on a 3.2P4. Thats better than replacing my 9700 with a 9800/5900 overclocked to the max...

Things are looking up for us the consumer if AMD can get the A64 out soon and it overclocks just 200-300mhz...

Im drooling at the thought of a 2.1ghz A64, nforce3 and a 9900pro or whatever the next ATI card is. 22,000 3dmarks here I come LOL!

Oh yeah now the Opteron is hitting 2 GHz it seems to perform very good... and then to think the Athlon 64 will support even higher memory speed (PC3200 instead of PC2700). And when AMD is getting better in producing them the OC potential might shoot up considerably.

And now Intel is having power and heat problems with the new Prescott it might be that the newer Pentiums CPUs wont be such extreme overclockers anymore.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM 😱

My thoughts exactly. Just look at the Athlon XP. The first ones would only overclock about 200-400mhz and once the process matured, a 500mhz overclock was common and now its reached the end of its prodction (or just about) a 1000mhz overclock is achievable. I think the best time to get one of these would be spring next year when the 2ghz will be much cheaper and hopefully go to 2.4ghz.

I just hope the memory and motherboards overclock to 230mhz+ or they unlock the multiplier or else overclocking will be limited. The bigger core will be good for cooling though. I'm excited already :)

Well I'm broke now after buying the p4 system, so AMD64 is just a vivid dream for me, i guess I should be happy with my 3.8G (2.4G to 3.8G) processor. Just gotta upgrade ram again and harddrive. Just wandering guys, how much better is SATA harddrive that ATA133 harddrives? I'm new to harddrives, thanks guys. Well Svol I don't know how much money you already helped me to save, first of all got my Barton 2500+ to a "3500+" which I sold for like 450dollars canadian, i bought it for like 120. Everybody on this forum I've found extremely helpful, i think we should have more advertisements and let more people to come to the overclocking sections, just to piss off every single hardware producers. LOL. Make everybody have 3500+ and 3.8G processors while spending only half the price of buying a high-end processor.

I hate Computers! My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

hard drives cannot take advantage of the added bandwith available to them via the sata bus...

the only benifit is a smaller cable...

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP

Wow 3.8ghz from a 2.4? Thats insane. You must be using 315mhz FSB for that????? BTW did you know the max overclock on record @ oc.com is 3.9ghz -30c cooled?

Oh yeah and I have to see some 3dmark2001/03 benchies from this 3.8gig/1.2ghz FSB system....

Check this out: <A HREF="http://www.amdzone.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1329" target="_new">http://www.amdzone.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1329</A>.

First samples Opteron 246 OC'ed to 2.2-2.25 GHz (wouldn't run 100% stable at 2.25 GHz) with aircooling in a 43 C ambient temp. Looking good.

Nothing, you were up pretty damn late last night.

I hate Computers! My P4 2.4C won't go above 3840mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

Speeduk my temperature's wayyy higher than 30C load, for the diode it's around 60C, never hit 65C. My SLK900U is doing a really good job with the 92mm Tornado. Also my case is opened so that just makes everything cooler by like 5C.
