Hello All,

I recently have decided to build a solid gaming build without a graphics card as I will be saving for a nice one. I will thus most likely need an Intel processor because the FX series lacks integrated graphics. I already have a 1TB storage drive and am thus only seeking a small SSD to boot from. I'm leaning towards an i5-3570k and 8GBs of RAM as this computer will need to last me a while. Lastly, I require a WiFi card as well.

Approximate Purchase Date: 10 days from now

Budget Range: $550 AFTER shipping, taxes, and rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Initially; office work, watching HD movies, CPU intensive programs. In a few months I will be adding a higher end GPU to the build though for gaming purposes.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg

Location: Sorry, no PC stores are within reach.

Parts Preferences: Intel > AMD (I actually am requiring Intel as I need integrated graphics)

Overclocking: Maybe (most likely in the future)

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1366x1768, but I'm upgrading to a 1080p monitor very soon.

Additional Comments: Aforementioned, I already have a storage drive and only need a small SSD to boot from. I also require a WiFi card. Please keep upgrade-ability to the max, as I plan for this PC to last quite awhile.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Connor

I hope so...

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/U6MS Because this has one in it. You can't really get much in the way of the new Haswell architecture yet, that I'm aware of anyway, so if you want to upgrade and yet you're buying before June/July (or whenever Haswell components get released), AMD is the way to go with either the FM2 or AM3+ chipsets. Plus, I believe the AMD APUs provide better graphical detail than the Intel HD series can even try to come close to, from what I remember from one of Tom's Hardware's reviews when the APUs were released a while back.

I would be, but I do not feel their CPU power so to speak will match that of Intel's. I mean even the FX line which were produced to compete with Intel's processors, don't keep up.

That build is somewhat off of what I asked for, IMHO. I realize that AMDs APUs have better graphics performance than Intel's integrated, but I do not plan on staying with integrated graphics for greater than a two months, so with that said, AMDs APUs CPU performance come no where near that of an i5. Also, you missed a WiFi card in the build and did not make use of about $100.
