Hi all,

Looking for a step up from my current gaming PC to a brand new one, possibly good for another 4-5 years or more. I have done my fair bit of "research" (reading up on popular parts, watching Techtuber reviews), but open to advice from you, if you've owned these parts or if there are better options out there. So here goes,
  • Budget: CHF 1,000
  • Location & Currency: Switzerland, Swiss Francs (CHF)
  • Use: Gaming at 1080p flawlessly, possible move to Ultra-Wide 1080p later, future-proof for upgrades, light photo and video editing, streaming
  • Monitor at hand: AOC 27G1 27" Curved 1080p FreeSync 144Hz
  • Games I Play: Almost all genres. High refresh rate titles like CSGO & DOTA2, open-world titles like Assassin's Creeds, Far Crys, lots of RTS titles and a few racing games.
  • Games I look forward to playing in the near future: Assassin's Creed Odyssey & Valhalla, Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry 6, Cyberpunk 2077, GTA 6 (whenever it's here)

Notes:
I'm not aiming for a full ITX/SFF build. The reason I chose the H210i was only because it stands right in the middle of SFF and mATX, perfect size for on the desk and when moving. Also the case comes with 2 fans included in an exhaust formation, hence will probably add 2 more on the front as intake. Finally, going for an aesthetically pleasing build with a bit of RGB lighting.

And here my questions regarding my part choices (recommendations welcome),

1. Motherboard: There's not many choices when it comes to Mini-ITX boards. The next one up is Gigabyte B550I Aorus Pro AX at CHF 199.90. X570s start at CHF 250+. What are your opinions on the B550 boards, as I do not want to take the risk of purchasing a B450 which may not compatible with the new generation Ryzen?

2. Processor: Ryzen 5 3600 and 2600 are the same price at the moment. The last gen Ryzen 3 3100 is 100 bucks cheaper. I guess more cores, double the price is a good decision?

3. RAM: The G.SKill 32GB RGB variant is also similarly priced. Any other recommendations?

4. Primary Storage: Would love to give the M.2 drives a go as a primary system drive. They're only 20-30 bucks more than normal SSDs. Are they actually worth it?

5. Secondary Storage: High storage SSDs are still quite expensive, but a HDD is ridiculously cheap. I found this 7200rpm drive oddly cheaper than a 5400rpm counterpart. Is there a reason?

6. Graphics: At my budget and price point for graphics, I found the RTX 2060 KO, 2060 OC and 2060 Super (in that order of price). The EVGA KO was heavily advertised by Techtubers. Is it worth the hype? Is the jump from 6GB to 8GB graphics in the Super worth it for another 70-100 bucks? Also, there's so many OEM brands (MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA, ASUS, Zotac, Palit, Gainward) to choose from with similar specs and varying prices.

7. PSU: Any other recommendations?

Finally, thank you for taking the time and looking forward to your expert advice.

Cheers.

The b550 itx board is a good pair for a 3600, no issues there.

For streaming and video editing, you'll really want to stick with the 3600, the 3100 won't cut it.
The stock cooler will work, but it's on the weak side, I'd try it out and then upgrade if the temps are poor.

I'd skip the 970 evo and use a slower large capacity m.2 instead, like a kingston a2000 or crucial p1. They are slower, but unless you are transferring large files ALL the time, you'll never notice a difference. There is effectively no difference in games, maybe 0.5 sec faster load time lol.
The rest is fine.

Just a heads up, by november, AMD will likely have their new cpu's out and nvidia and amd should have their new gpu's out. So this list will...
