This app also takes into account the machine running the browser, which means that it will never be taken seriously as a browser benchmarking standard. Just another bragging right for those running an i7.

I think the main point of this is not to compare browser scores between other systems, but to compare browser scores with your own system. With that, you can find which browser runs the best on your system.

For me, Firefox 3.07 scored 197, Firefox 3.1b3 scored 282 and Midori scored 480.

I don't have a problem at all with web browser speed, what I have a problem with is -> spyware & malware. I'm not sure if this is alleviated in MSIE7 but I have my doubts. I just use firefox but I read somewhere that it has its own security issues. I haven't ever got a trojan from firefox. MSIE6 is a malware magnet and as such it seems like a microsoft engineered trojan horse.

I would imagine that if you want the fastest browser you'd be trying out chrome or some other stripped down browser. MSIE is fast enough, firefox feels no different.

I would never judge browers just on javascipt speed it's rarely just that how well a brower handles the web.

These benchmarks seem to be much more comprehensive than other browser benchmarks I have tried.

Well script speed is fast enough now that other factors just make about all browers relatively the same for when they render a webpage for you. Really the limiting factor is that you still have to download the webpage so who cares if new FF is a ba-gillion times faster your internet isn't any speeder so you get more or less the same result rending css etc.

Opera v9.60 - 352 (second run in a seperate window but with the original window and tabs still open)

Google Chrome v1.0.154.48 - 1345 (with 1 additional window open)

Wow, what an improvement between Opera versions! But it always seems that alpha/beta versions are much faster with all browsers than their final releases.

Google Chrome 3 BETA = 1750 (the fastest)
Opera 10 = 1058
Mozilla Firefoz 3.05 = 1044
IE = 250 (the slowest)

Using Sunspider
Google chrome 3 BETA = 1220 (the fastest)
Opera 10 = 2200
Mozilla Firefoz 3.05 = 2560
IE = 7500 (the slowest)

Using V8 Benchmark
Google = 1950 (the fastest)
Opera = 1400
Mozilla FF = 218 (slow)
IE = Error (the slowest)

Probably Safari 4 Beta is a bit faster than Google Chrome using Futuremark benchmark but this web browser uses a lot of RAM resources, sometimes >> 250MB even with only 1 window open.

Using Acid 3 Test, Google chrome and opera passed 100/100. IE and Mozilla FF got scores below 93.

This information in really good to know in order to get the most appropriate browser for a specific configuration depending on the OS, the PC processor and the number of gigs for RAM memory.

Tested with 2.0GB RAM, Dual Core AMD Athlon X2 (laptop)
