futuristic dogfighting game/movie with good story

If anyone ever played rebel raiders operation nighthawk, I want something like that. I loved the story of the game, so if there is something similar, game or movie, i need to watch/play it. The gameplay is boring, all the bots move in a predictable pattern, but the story is good. So anyone know of a movie or game with a similar story, tell me about it.

not sure about the story since i have never played that game though it looks similar (gamewise) to the ace combat series available on ps1 through ps4. jasf was also good but had a more sim-like game. i loved the old air combat game from ps1 for fun factor though doubt it has aged well.

as far as "dogfight" type movies... thats a bit hard. i thought wing commander (space dogfights) was a pretty decent movie. independence day had some nice dogfighting scenes with futuristic/scifi elements. top gun was rather well done. stealth was about an ai-controlled fighter plane. for more that i cant recall off the top of my head i found a list of movies with dogfights in them http://www.imdb.com/list/ls000939081/

if you were looking for something with a more 3d futuristic feel for gaming (and dont mind that it takes place in space) then perhaps the old star wars / wing commander titles. i've never played them (i used to play colony wars back then instead). also perhaps you'd like warhawk the old game.

The Ace Combat series, preferably Ace Combat 4/5/6 and Zero. This series take place in a fictional world dubbed Strangereal and the storyline of all of the games is just dramatic and amazing. Although it is not really a futuristic game, it has futuristic elements to it, such as massive laser satellite super weapons and such.

There is so much to say about the game series, but if you want some gameplay I can find some for you.

Good luck on finding a PS2 to play it though XD

Seeing that you like to fly in buildings there is a mission in Ace combat 5 where you have to fly through a really long tunnel:

Ace combat looks pretty cool, and I already know how much fun warhawk is, (even though I was more of a tank driver than a pilot)

Not trying to be picky, but these still aren't exactly what I'm looking for.
