Buying this as a "new" PC?Hi! I'm building a cheap pc for video editing. I just want to do basic editting with sony vegas using videos at 720p and 1080p (videos of 10 or 15 minutes). I want to know if a fx 4100 could be te right cpu for that.
No, i have an old pc (without cpu) compatible with am3+ and i dont want to spend too much money buying oneBuying this as a "new" PC?
Don't.
You are right, but i was looking for an am3+ cpu, because I want to use my old motherboardAn FX4100 is going to be a bad option for this task.
I would suggest a Ryzen 3 or I5 system.
Thank you, i will go for an eight coreFX 6 or 8 core is the minimum id suggest.
thanks for the answer, what gpu would you choose for that cpu?it will be painful slow - if possible grab a refurb i5-3470 desktop like this one, it will be much more effective at the task...
Unfortunately the power supply will also need to be replaced, even a 1050ti will want around 370w recommended so the best bet is probably an RX 570 and a CX 450...thanks for the answer, what gpu would you choose for that cpu?
"Recommended" usually needs to be taken with a truckload of salt. My i5-3470 with 32GB of RAM, three HDDs, one SSD, one DVD drive, three case fans, GTX1050 with a bunch of USB peripherals still only draws 220W from my UPS under full load including the main monitor, two USB hubs, a 24-ports network switch, router, modem, VoIP phone adapter and cordless phone base.Unfortunately the power supply will also need to be replaced, even a 1050ti will want around 370w recommended
