I am in the process of buying a new processor for a computer I am building and ordered a AMD FX-4300 from Tigerdirect, shortly after ordering a I saw that Amazon has all the components I am ordering but with a FX-6300 for only a couple dollars more. My question is which processor should I get, a FX-4300 or FX-6300 and why?
I mostly use the computer for internet browsing, photography editing (Photoshop) and once in a while a game, mostly older ones but you never know what will come out and that I'll pick up.

Hey, I'd say go for the FX-6300 because generally it has better performance and can be overclocked more. It has 6 cores compared to 4 cores in the FX-4300 and it's multi-threaded performance is much better. It also performs slightly better when it comes to memory intensive applications. The FX-6300 also has bigger cache which is a plus when it comes to gaming. That being said, they were both released around the same time and there isn't that much of a difference. They don't have inbuilt graphics so make sure you get a decent GPU for photo-editing, it doesn't need to be spectacular. Overall the FX-6300 has better overall performance and since it's just a few more dollars I'd say go for it.

Thank you, I was leaning towards the FX-6300 so I will return that and order a FX-6300 from Amazon.

Thanks again!

Good choice, your welcome!
