I was wondering how high I would have to OC my FX-6200 on my Sabertooth mobo inorder to keep it from bottlenecking my Asus GTX680?

I regret not going with an Intel, but nonetheless we can make this work pretty good?

Alright sweet..I had a 6100 OC'd to 4.2ghz and I decided to swap it out for a 6200. For some reason I was having problems with my setup I had the Asus 990x EVO with the FX6100 4.2 ghz and crossfired 6950's...but I could never get it to work correctly..I tried alot of things and never seemed to be able to get the performance I wanted out of it. So I decided to buy a few more parts and im gonna end up with 2 desktops after all said and done. How do you think my 6200+sabertooth+680 will compare to my 6100+990x EVO+6950's crossfired?

In theory you would think the performance would be approximately the same? But im hoping that my new rig will run smoother than the last.

^ That's one thing in this thread I agree with. The 6300 is pretty good.

With that said, the 6200 at stock will bottleneck the 680 a decent amount in games that aren't extremely GPU bound (BF3 SP, for example. Pretty much all newer CPU's are equal there). It may be a fast BD chip, but it's still just a BD chip.

Get the 6300 and OC it a bit and you'll be doing good.

Well if you wanna get like that, not a lot of games are CPU intensive. Only a handful - depends what he wants to play.

Well, very few are as GPU intensive as BF3 SP. It changes a bit, even with BF3 MP. BF3 MP will take all of the CPU horsepower (cores and raw speed) that you can give it.

Beyond that, a 6200 at stock will still be a bottleneck for a 680 in most situations.

Yea the game I play is SWTOR which from what I understand is more CPU intensive then GPU..Im contacting Newegg as we speek trying to refund my 6200 (that I ordered yesterday) and im processing a new order with the 6300. So what advantage does the new Piledriver have over the old bulldozer archittecture? Good thing the Sabertooth I ordered was 2.0 😀 lol

No - but I wouldn't even compare to that processor cause I think it's a waste of money to buy for gaming xD But compared to like a 2500K, its a decent foe for gaming

Yea I have a H50 water cooler coming too, I just need someone to help me Overclock it, as I am new to overclocking and want to make sure I do it 100% correctly this time!

Yea I have a Hyper 212+ Big ass Air cooler, but Iv read reviews sayin the H50 keeps things a lil cooler..not by much but apparently it does help..I figured for 50 bucks it would be worth a shot..

I don't think that bottlenecks that much.. you should be fine.

Not really keeping up, not even the 8 core amd chip able to defeat the 3570k,

But this fx6300 is the best on value performance per price,

Kinda like this chip is enough, and the 3570k more then enough,
Hope u get the comparison, both will get job done.
