Ok so I know this discussion is very persistent on this forum and although I hate to beat a horse that's already dead I need help deciding and having a clear answer would be great. Micro center has two bundles I can get both with nice MSI Motherboards/ASRock Mobos at a great bargain. I already know I don't want to get the amd fx 8350, because solely based on the price there are I5s I know that can outperform it for my needs. I am building a Machine for Music Editing and Producing as well as playing MMOs and League of Legends. I want fast load times, nice graphics (I have a 7850 I am putting with the setup) and an Overall Smooth performance. I can currently get the Amd fx 6300 for a total of 160 bucks with a Motherboard, and an I5 3570k with the same deal for 230. 70 bucks is a big jump, but is it worth it for the performance? I've done tons of research and the 6300 seems very overclockable and being one who has never had an AMD cpu the price difference is scary for the plain fact I automatically think worse performance. So what should I get? benchmarks seem veryyy close. Am I gonna notice a difference at all really, at least a difference that will justify the 70 dollar difference in price?

Thanks for all comments!

I would say the $70 is worth getting the 3570k over the FX 6300.

FX-8350 vs 3570K would be a more difficult decision.

Remember though, an AMD at 4.0ghz is about the same as an Intel at 3.4ghz, during benchmarks. AMD is known for huge overclocking.

The I5 3570k is massively faster in everything when compared to the 6300FX, except in Blender and sorts. Of course in real life you will barely notice the differences. You seems to be on a budget so go with the 6300 bundle, the 6300 is a very capable chip and a really good overclocker.

For what you are going to do with your computer, I strongly recommend the 6300 unless you plan to do some more intensive gaming. Plus, with the 6300 being on an AM3+ socket you can EASILY upgrade the CPU in a few years whereas with Intel you'd be forced to drop some more money on a motherboard as well as a processor.
This is considering you aren't going to do a lot of intensive gaming (IE Battlefield 4).

Aren't games like battlefield one of the few games out that run better on more cores?

Yes, but they are known to run better on intel chips because intel has a better per core performance. However, I havent looked at the 6300 much in benchmarks so you may be right with this one (I look more at the 8350).
