My first shot at OC and I got my FX 6300 up to a stable 4.3.

CPUz however is all over the place however. ATM it is hanging at about 1404.69 MHz and jumping up to about 3000 mghz and spikes up to 4300 MHz.

Is this normal?

Yes it's underclocking to save power. You must have some power save feature turned on in your BIOS. It's an energy saving tool. It will not underclock when it needs the power (when gaming). You can turn it off in BIOS if you'd like. But you're fine. Nice overclock.

Edited out mistake that Dunlop clarified below.

Turn off cool and quiet in your bios, it will lower core frequency when at idle to save power it can hurt the stability of an overclock and even throttle cores under load. If its already off let me know. There are other settings that should be disabled as well, I will link a guide if you want.

I believe either will work, but always disable seems to be recommended more im not really sure what the difference is. I use always disable.

Nobody uses cool and quiet or turbo core when overclocking amd fx cpus. Every guide I have ever read says to turn them off.
