Hello there.
I had an MSI 990FXA-GD65 running for a month or so and I did OC my FX 6300 on it at 4.5-4.6 Ghz with 1.3v. But about a week ago I tried to turn it on and it would turn on the fans on for a split second and then shut down. I thought it was a problem with my PSU but even when I changed it, it wouldn't boot, so I sent the mobo back and they replaced me that and said to me that I burned it with the OC but they didn't have a MSI 990FXA, but they gave me an Asrock 970 Extreme 4.
I know this Asrock has a lower chipset, only 4+1 power but how far can I go OC with it?
I dont want to burn this one too because it haven't got warranty anymore.
1)Should I go 4.1-4.2 at stock voltage if I can?
2)What is the max voltage allowed in this board (safe)?

Also btw can you answer me these questions too:
3)I have two R9 270 2GB in CrossFire, will I be able to play the latest games for 2 years from now with these gpus and this CPU, I don't mind playing at low?
4)I heard DirectX12 will combine VRAM of gpus. So if it does, will a 4GB frame buffer help me in playing games for at least two years? I plan to upgrade to a extreme build in 2 years but now I am saving the money for it.

Thanks a lot guys!

You can probably run 4.1-4.2 at stock voltage, its worth a shot. The max you should do out of this is like 1.475 tops but honestly with only a 4+1 phase you're going to eventually cook this one as well if you did that. At least it has cooling on the vrms but still it will be hard for it to keep up that kind of voltage.

The R9270 should absolutely still be able to play the latest games for quite a while longer, probably well longer than 2 years. As for the DX12 question that I am not sure, TBH I don't think you need to mess with anything to keep playing games for the next 2 years, The 270's are still quite viable equipment.
