FX 6300 odd temps

I own a FX 6300 and I use Arctic Silver 5 for my thermal paste. My temps after a fresh layer of the paste are great temps rarely go above 65 C in Grand Theft Auto V (Which is the worse game for my CPU temp wise) But a week or two after the thermal paste is applied the temps start getting bizarre. Idle temps of 52C!! idk if its how I clean my cpu. I am very tight on money 90% of the time so I cheapskate a lot of things. I use qtips, dry wash rags and a wet wash rag to clean cpu and heatsink. Is this the problem? I have $ to go buy some Isopropyl Alcohol right now

Which program are you using to monitor temps ? Most are not accurate on AMD systems. Idle temps are not reported well with those processors and are not very important anyway.
Try AOD http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4645-amd-overdrive.html for better accuracy.

Are you useing the stock cooler? Try to get a stock cooler from the 8 cores, people replace them before Any use. They sometimes just give them away and they are made for a tdp of 125w.

I got a FX 6300 recently and I had this same problem, I think it was the stock cooler, I splurged and bought a hyper 212. This fixed it. I now do not get CPU temps over 50 even in the most intense games.
