Hey guys a bit of a sticky situation i broke my 6300 when i was cleaning out my pc i decided to take off my heat sink the cpu was aattached and well a phew pins bent... now the cpu wont work anymore now i am forced to buy a new cpu. Im thinking if im gonna buy somthing new i might as well get a upgrade but is the 8core worth a extra $55? i cant really wait more than a week i was thinking to wait for steamroller?

Solution

Dont get the FX-8150 as it is getting outdated and is not as power efficient as the latest architecture and i dont believe $150 is a good deal for an 8150, you are better off just getting a new FX-6300
The 8 core is only worth the extra if you are using programs that will utilize all 8 cores such as video or photo editing software but if you are just gaming then buy the FX-6300 because no game right now uses more than six cores and if you get the FX-8320 then 2 cores will be doing nothing whilst gaming.

Steamroller is confirmed as going to be on AM3+ but i have honestly given up on the old AM3+ socket and i dont believe that much more can be pushed out of it and apparently steamroller wont be much better.
