FX 6300 overclock vs stock turbo 4.1

Hello, I want to know how does an overclocked FX-6300 at 4.0ghz or 4.1ghz compare to performance of the chip at stock speed?, which as I understand turbos automatically to 4.1 when under load. Is there any gain in overclocking this cpu to these speeds?

You should OC it so that the turbo reaches higher than 4.0/4.1. That way you'll see improvements. If lucky you can up it to 4.8 Ghz.

But this depends on your motherboard. It's not safe if you don't have the right one.

Yes, my motherboard is the Gigabyte 970a-DS3. not an overclocker, this is why i want to know if an overclock to 4.0 or 4.1 will see any improvement in performance. I may be able to set the clock to a permanent 4.1 on this board with out trouble. I am tempted to upgrade my board just for the fun of overclocking but i cannot justify the purchase really as it is now pretty much a dead socket.
